Pope Benedict XVI Prays to Allah

January 2nd 2007 18:47
The Pope has lost his marbles.

In the world of crazies, craziness, and people that have unfortunately “hit their heads”…we can now ad Pope Benedict XVI to the list. For some reason this story didn’t get much publicity in the states, and I definitely see why. Reuters reported on December 1st that the Pope had visited a mosque in Turkey, which was at the end of November, and ended up turning toward Mecca and “praying like a Muslim”. If I were a Catholic, I would be deeply offended by this gesture. He was trying to obviously settle the waves he had caused earlier in the year over the quotations of the Byzantine emperor about Islamic violence. However, did he actually need to bow to another God just to bring peace?

I am definitely not Catholic or Christian for that matter, but I would be thoroughly upset if I were. I understand the idea of everyone trying to get along, but he was basically giving in due to all of the criticism and threats from the Muslim world. Apparently the Pope is using what he did as an excuse to promote diversity and peace, but I see it as not having a back bone. The speech he had given earlier in the year that sparked the situation was not even of his own words. He was quoting someone in history and the Muslims ended up with their panties in a bunch. Heaven forbid anyone say anything bad against Mohammed or Allah. Christians and other religions are slammed almost daily for various views and yet nobody cares to mention it or look twice. However, if anyone dare to even think about drawing Mohammed or utter a single word against Islam, then there is to be rioting in the streets and constant berating until there is an act of good faith or a retraction for what was said or done.

Shame on Muslims for acting the way they do and thinking their crap doesn’t stink and shame on the Pope for bending to Islam just to make them happy. I can honestly say that the Catholics would be short a follower today if I were Catholic or Christian. Enough is enough. Diversity and tolerance is a good thing, but there has to be lines drawn at how to go about bringing it to fruition. Apparently the Pope needs to do a little sole searching. Maybe he can go to the corner mosque and do some more praying. I won’t hold my breath.

Blessed Be

Is it that offensive? After all, the idea of a Muslim God and a Christian God stem from the same place, don't they?

I think it's a decent gesture to show that Christians and Muslims do not have to think of each other as the enemy...

What does go un noticed is that Catholics, jews and Muslims agree that Allah and God are the same person by another name. They all see Abraham as the common point of agreement.

The purpose of eucuminism is to find these common grounds and use them to build understanding without compromising what you believe in. The crazy things that unite us are stronger than the crazy things that we disagree with.

Benedict is certainly no fool about what he believes and is considered to be one of the sharpest theological minds in modern times. Muslim leaders are not fools either and would be well aware of his dogmatic approach to religion.

Hence I don't think that many people either Muslim or Catholic would see this as heresy.

Well I'll be the first to admit muslims are among those who kind of get aggresive over crap all.

You know what this makes me angry about? All those drawings of Jesus, well not those, but those that defile him. It's dumb, after someone drew mohammed in a comic fashion all the muslims were in uproar but nothing like that ever happened over Jesus being drawn as such. It's dumb because muslims believe jesus is also a messenger of god hence you put one and one together and you realise it's ridiculous.

Anyway, what the pope did was laughable, it almost is the literal recreation of 'the popes a jew', except now the popes a muslim.

While the Pope's comments about muslims was somewhat offesnful it did have and prove a point, that Muslims are in general too passionate for all the wrong reasons.

Still, it's ridiculous, the pope praying at a mosque, ok... maybe he wants to convert?

Maybe the Pope does want to convert. That's funny. I actually found a blog when looking this article up that made a comment of "yah, and the Pope is a Muslim", kind of like the saying "does the Pope poop in the woods"...no wait, that's "does a BEAR poop in the woods"...my bad.

I grew up Christian and was always taught that God is a jealous God and you are not supposed to worship any God but Him. I'm sure the Catholics read the same thing. So why is it okay for the Pope to pray to Allah? Allah is not seen as actual "God" to Christians even though it's the same concept. I don't follow Christianity anymore anyway, but I was wondering why this wasn't really discussed in the mass media like everything else....oh wait...I forgot about the Vatican's henchmen. I guess what happens in Turkey stays in Turkey. Good thing the Pope wasn't in Vegas!

HI Miss Faith,

...I think you are brave assuming that the Pope had any marbles to start with ... well any of his own, that is!

Great Post, I really appreciate your sentiment..

Islam’s Not For Me!
They tried to tell me
my religion was wrong.
They tried to tell me
to follow Islam.
They said their "Prophet"
was a righteous dude,
But I found out
none of their words were true.

I read the Qur'an
and I read the Hadith,
And the sickness of Mohammed
was apparent to me.
He justified perversion
in the name of Allah,
When he married a girl
too young for a bra.

She was playing with dolls
when the "Prophet" came.
Her childhood was stolen
in Allah's name.
Aisha was nine
when he took her to bed.
Don’t tell me that fool's
not sick in the head.

I ain’t gonna follow no child molester, sex offender, Prophet pretender.
I ain’t gonna follow no child molester! Islam's not for me!
Islam's not for me!

The sickness of
the Islamic mind,
Has caused some mullahs
to be blind.
To justify their "Prophet"
they will justify sin,
So the sins of the "Prophet"
are repeated again.

All over the world
in Islamic states,
Nine year old girls
suffer cruel fate,
Sold into marriage
to twisted men,
And Aisha’s sad story
is repeated again.

I ain’t gonna follow no child molester, sex offender, Prophet pretender.
I ain’t gonna follow no child molester! Islam's not for me!
Islam's not for me!

Do you care about women
all over the world?
Do you care about those
little girls?
Better stand up and fight
for human rights,
Speak out against
the laws of Islam!

I ain’t gonna follow no child molester, sex offender, Prophet pretender.
I ain’t gonna follow no child molester! Islam's not for me!
Islam's not for me!
Islam's not for me!
