A Stoning that Reeks of Biblical Times

January 31st 2007 19:09

And you thought adulterers in the US could have it bad by causing things such as divorce, lawsuits, jail time, or even getting the beating of a lifetime. Well, be glad you’re not in Pakistan. Apparently 2 “lovers” in their 40’s were dragged from a house then tied by the neck with rope to a tree and then beaten about their heads with bricks and stones. Apparently the 2 were not married and were caught sleeping together. So what could the woman’s brother do but string her and the man up and kill them by stoning. That’s wonderful. He even told the police that he worked with other family members on this plan to discipline the “sinners”. He called it an “honor killing”.

So, religious beliefs or not…are we still living in Biblical times here? It’s insane to know that in the 21st century something like this still takes place. And if you notice, it wasn’t the man’s family, BUT the woman’s family. Heaven forbid a woman over there gets her “rocks off” with a man she’s not married to (no pun intended). And it’s not like they were kids…they were in their 40’s for Gods sake! Maybe they should take the men that did this and castrate them….that could calm them down a little bit, don’t you think?

Well, needless to say the supposed “police” are trying to arrest all of the people involved in this so-called “honor killing”. In 2005, the President of Pakistan actually had a law put into effect that would give those the death penalty that took part in an “honor killing”. We’ll see if it actually happens….but I won’t hold my breath since around 4000 people (mostly women) have been killed in this way over the past few years.

Blessed Be

And we're over there trying to drag them from the 8th century into the 21st. They have nuclear weaponry and still believe in stoning. It makes your head spin.

this shows that times have not changes in the region despite millions spent on "education" and "training"

Bhumika, maybe it just shows that men want to be the all conquering hero while the women are still relagated to being a man's piece of property. They know that if the women even taste a bit of freedom, there will be no stopping them. Let's face it, women rule the roost over here. Why shouldn't the men of the mid-East suffer the same as we do, LOL?

You can thank the Nazi-feminists for women having so much control on this continent, Mexico not included. I don't think we should allow public stonings and things but let's face it....women tend to have too much power at times and want to actually be "the man" in the relationship. I think the men in the middle east need to find a happier medium as do we here.

YouRanter - Have you heard anything about the area of Canada issuing laws against using Sharia law such as stonings and covering the face? Glen Beck on CNN was talking about it a few days ago.

Yes, they have decided against the use of Shariah Law as it downgrades women. At least, that's how it is here in Ontario. We do allow Native Councils to sit in and suggest punishment in some cases for Aboriginals, but that's as far as it goes. We don't allow Shariah Law or the Jewish equivalent thereof as it goes against our policy of one law for all the people. Some defenders of Shariah said this law should be in place because it is Muslim and they can handle their own justice. The Ontario gov't said stoning women and treating them like chattel is not the way Ontario works.
Women do have the power over here, even if they're not in a position of power. Somehow my wife gets her way 9 times out of 10. Let the Muslims have the same treatment, LOL.
