Will Jacko be the New Poster Boy for Islam?

March 2nd 2007 16:21
Well, we have famous poster boys for various other religions and now Islam will have Michael Jackson as there supporting figure. I’m sure they’re thrilled with this. I know, some of you are reading this and thinking that it’s still just speculation. Well, according to the Post, he actually confirmed his conversion to Islam to the Panorama (an Arab-Israeli newspaper in the Middle East). The king of pop has apparently announced that he has bought property in Bahrain and will also be moving there.

Islam is not a stranger to the Jackson family, however. Michael’s brother Jermaine is Muslim and has been since 1989. Supposedly Michael began asking his bro some questions about Islam shortly after he was acquitted of child abuse in 2005. So why is Michael converting or at least thinking of converting? (I say “thinking”, since he has not publicly announced his conversion and at this point I still consider it word of mouth) Could he want to convert and move to the Middle East because they have more lenient laws about children and so forth, or is it because he actually wants to be more good and peaceful? I am hoping it is for the peace and goodness, but it’s so hard to say.

So, even though there are other famous Muslims in the US, why will Michael be their poster child? Well, because he’s so “out there”. Mohammed Ali is getting a lot older and not in the public eye as much. Michael on the other hand can’t stand to stay out of the public eye. So if he actually has or will convert, all Muslim the world over should welcome their newest brother…Michael Jackson.

Let’s take a peek at some of the other famous figures that support other religions. The Catholics have Mel Gibson, the Jews have SEVERAL and too many to list, and the Scientologist have Tom Cruise in all his wacky glory.

So good for Michael and good for the US. He will be taking up residency in Bahrain and will no longer be here in our country. Quite frankly, I find everything about him creepy, but that’s MY opinion. Now he can be there problem, if a problem were to arise. Do you think he might start singing in Arabic or Farsi as well? And I think that may explain part of the reason why he covers the faces of his children, but I won’t go into why he actually covers them. And, do you think he will dress as a male Muslim or a female…or will he mix it up? So many questions and so many answers to be given…

Anyway, I’m sure somebody will read this and get riled up since I made the comment about the Middle East having more lenient laws about children and other things. It always seems that the truth always makes people angry and gets them up in arms over various things. Quite interesting really.

Blessed Be

Great blog, Miss Faith. Be prepared for Ahmed and Brenton. But on a more serious note, Ali was not known so much for his faith. He was, and in many eyes still is, the greatest boxer of all time. Jackson is a fading star before his time. He will be remembered not for his music, but his child molestation charges and wacko behaviour. If I was a Muslim, I would point to Ali as my hero, and the day he is gone from us, renounce my faith if all we have is wacko Jacko to look up to.

Be happy you're living here, you know in certain countries they still drown people like you in rivers

btw, you're a little behind (broom chugging along?) he apparently already did.

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? After which if he's innocent he's innocent? Hmm? Seems like you're judging this man as if he committed a crime he never did, at worst it was child neglect, they never found him of sexually assaulting children. Just greedy parents who wanted money, one of them claimed that his son had told him of Jackson abusing him but he sent the boy back anyway, why? 'because it was Michael Jackson'. I guess you don't know stuff like that doesn't hold in court.

Anyway, he will hardly be a 'poster boy', there is no 'poster boy' if the 'boy' isn't exactly a good Muslim. Now people like Malcom X for instance, pity he's dead, the world needs more people like him. Well the world does, but neo-cons and neo-con humping witches don't

btw, so long as jackson wants to have sex with kids he should move to Romania, they have a bustling child sex industry up there, people from all over the world go there just for that

anyway, great blog, just keep attacking Muslims every chance you get, surround yourself with neo-cons, then ask for sympathy for your own self when the time comes and see if they support you. Well they probably will now since I mentioned this, but meh.

Now Ahmed, would Allah agree with the way you just walked all over my religious beliefs and labeled me a "witch"? I am in no way a witch....believe it or not, not all pagans or wiccans are witches. Personally, I don't like the term...but that's my preference.

Plus, please take time to actually read the blog...I did not attack Muslims or Islam. I actually stated that I hope he converted to be more peaceful and good....make the connection and get there faster please.

And I seriously hope you were kidding about Malcolm X...but for some reason I doubt it since he was a Muslim and all Muslims are great no matter what their character.

I've been thinking of converting to Islam so I can blog openly about Muslims and not come across as a crazy American bigot. It seems the only way to say anything about Muslims and not get whipped and beaten for it....unless I were in Egypt of course.

And Ahmed, the topic of Islam is a very hot topic now and probably will be for a while. The more a religion gets attention the more you will see it in the media and other places.

Here's an article I just read that I thought you may like to chew on a bit:

And no, I didn't write it.

Really Long Link

Quite interesting if you ask me. And yes, I realize these men are following more of a tribal law than the law of Islam, but where do they draw the lines? Islam is just like all other religions...there are so many different "takes" on what should and shouldn't be followed it's silly.

Plus, I just wanted to point something out...I try to blog about things you don't readily see in the mainstream media and isn't plastered all over every newspaper and TV station. This is why I haven't discussed the supposed unearthing of Jesus' tomb, among other things. I talk about all things faith based and try to bring the stories that aren't covered as much to light. If I ran across a news story about a Muslim saving some girl from a river...it would be here as well. But I have yet to find something like this. If I do, I will let you know.

Oh yah, if you get CNN take a look at the Glenn Beck show if you get the chance. He has some really interesting takes on Islam and everything else that is going on in the world without the "Fox" spin.

You know whats the funniest part? Jackson has only been accused of molesting boys, i.e. homosexual acts.

You do realize people flee from countries like Iran because they are accused of being homosexuals?

and just for funnies: "upon hearing this, the Islamic community converted to Christianity"

When women are property in tribalistic areas no doubt, what about when they are Muslims under a proper Islamic law. You know they can have their husbands wipped if they are wronged? Here if a man beats up on his wife the only thing she can do is send out a restraining order and hope he gets thrown in prison.

There are some base laws in Islam that cannot be overcome no matter what 'take' you have on the religion. Womens rights is one of the bigger ones, not to mention one of the biggest abused, the middle east is home to some of the most backwards people ever, their problem is they don't follow Islam.

Umm, miss faith, you do realize jacko's conversion has hit the front page on Digg.com, i.e. it has gone beyond mainstream media and hit the global internets biggest single news outlet.

How about you write about the Muslim who gave $300 (his life savings ) to build a homeless shelter?

Every religion should always be judged by the very worst, the very flakiest people who claim to be following it. Every Catholic should take the rap for the priests who molested altered boys, every Protestant should be judged as nasty and hateful as those assholes who heckle mourners at funerals, Trekkies should all be treated as nutsy as the ditz who wore a Starfleet uniform to jury duty, Pagans are all as screwed up as the guy I went to scholl with who painted himself blue and howled at hte Moon- whether it was up or not, etc. etc.

After all, we can learn so much from the weirdest, most unsavory types who claim to be part of any faith- and when have we ever found anything worthwhile in the highest aspirations of anyone's beliefs? No sense in acknowledging anything positive or uplifting so long as we can find one freako to laugh at instead.

@ Francis

Thing is those who do good deeds do it for themselves, not for attention, and no one gets to hear about them.

Even if they do it publically they don't get attention because 'Michael Jackson is Converting to Islam' just sounds better than '<insert impossible to pronounce name> has just made this great breakthrough in a field of science no one cares about because everyones too stupid to care for some reason or another'...
