Give Me a Break
March 8th 2007 14:59
Apparently in Conowingo, MD the authorities were called in to take a look at 2 cauldrons a hiker had found in the local woods. One contained a human skull and 2 thigh bones while the other contained a rubber snake, plastic skull, a crucifix, handcuffs, a rat trap, and statues.
Why do I say “give me a break”??? Because of the comment in the report that said “We don’t know if this was a serious PAGAN ritual or just a prank”. Seriously? This came out of the mouth of a Maryland State trooper. They actually show the local news footage on the news website and the reporter went to talk to a local metaphysical shop owner. The poor girl. She had to say what a cauldron was actually used for in Pagan traditions and the look on her face when they were asking her about a possible connection was just priceless. She was probably thinking 2-fold with this one….free publicity of her shop but yet another list of stupid accusations based at Pagans…all because they found this stuff and she owns a shop that sells cauldrons.
Well, I guess it goes to show that State troopers aren’t as smart as they seem….I’m trying not to laugh at that statement. I guess they skipped over the theology classes in Trooper training school….maybe they should look into implementing it in the future.

She had a shop, that sells couldrons, now you tell me, if it was a Muslim bookstore and instead of a couldron they found a book written by some random dude claiming Jihad do you honestly think they'd even leave the shop open?
Then I'd be the one saying 'give me a break', yes it happens, and it happens a whole lot. Feel good to be the one meaninglessly persecuted? You know it's so obviously stupid, the accusations they throw at you that you almost don't know how to reply, I deal with that a lot, from all over the place, even recently I've had to deal with it on this very same blog.
I could easily jump to conclusions, human sacrifice? Bestiality? What do you associate with paganism? More to the point, what does this news report try to imply? Of course I'd like the favor returned but it doesn't happen when you jump on the media bandwagon and go claim 'Muslims are demanding X thing from us poor non-Muslims'.
So you know, why don't you give me a break? See how annoying it is when you see this crap on various news reports? Pretty annoying eh? I can relate.

The big difference between Pagans and Muslims is this...a group of Pagans have never flown planes into buidlings in the US to kill innocent people, nor have they ever waged a holy war against a group or groups in hopes of being seen favorable in the eyes of their Gods.
If there were a group of radical Pagans waging war on the US and killing people then yes I could see where they could have a tighter grip on the Pagan community and possibly shut down a store that may be affiliated with an act of terrorism. I would be highly offeneded by my government if Pagans acted like this and yet were handled with "kid gloves" when something happens. So even though you would like to compare being a Muslim to being a Pagan, the comparrison will always fall short....until Pagans begin performing acts of terrorism.
And before anyone gets all bent out of shape....I am not talking about ALL Muslims or ALL Pagans. So don't even suggest it. I'm not an idiot and I do know that you cannot make all people of a religion believe in the exact same way...so there are radical wackos in ALL religions. For all I know the cauldron was a "sacrifice" performed by some nutjob person that considers themself a Pagan. It happens all of the time. Bad apples spoil the bushel.

It's as simple as that isn't it? iIke I already mentioned, I find it ridiculous how you continue to attack Muslims every chance you get, yet now you withdraw and have to defend against equally ridiculous attacks against your beliefs.
I deal with this everyday, you just deal with it once in a blue moon.
I like it how you claim to not be generalizing upon all Muslims yet half-half suggesting that the government be extremely tight on Muslims, it shows what you really feel, and how sad and pathetic you are at lying to yourself too.
Let me demonstrate:
Ok, so Muslims are all like that? Lets see, out of over 1.2 billion, you claim the actions of the few reflect upon the overwhelmingly large global majority?
Me suggest it? How absurd, you already did, by justifying the government to be tough on Muslims because of past actions by a few radical extremists.
Now if this really was a human sacrifice by some nutjob then indeed her store should be closed, and you should be persecuted in the media too, that is, after all, your reasoning. Judge the many by the acts of a few.
I never speak of the pagans at my Highschool you know? I try to think they don't reflect the entire group of people like you, them and their drug taking, wierd rituals and taste in fashion, I never judged pagans as a whole based on their actions, even if they did break the law on several occasions and get themselves up to all sorts of mischief. Not once, even today, do I feel like that reflects what all pagans are like.
However, you don't return that favor, you claim I am from a people who are waging a war against you, and are trying to use that as an excuse to get your government to persecute Muslims.
Apply everything you feel, everytime someone insults you, every time something like this happens, every time one mans words or actions are reflected upon your community then multiply it by fifty, thats how it is for me.

They tortured small animals to death, they snorted drugs, smoked Marijuana, drank random cocktails, one of them was pregnant, had an abortion, got pregnant again (poor baby), they were a continuous disturbance in every class they were in to the point they were completely isolated into their own class rooms, they got in trouble with the police even.
Actually I never believed the stuff about torturing animals or drug taking, I thought they were just stupid rumours, then it eventually was proven beyond doubt they were a bunch of nut cases.
But you know, they were just kids, 16 to 19, look at me? I came to your blog and I supported you, this was after high school, after I dealt with those 'pagans' who were, like you say, treated with kids gloves.
You claim to feel the pain, like you are something special, you know you don't suffer at all at the hands of these radical extremists, you suffer at the hands of your own government that continuously censors your information and persecutes your fellow citizens, it is your government that you rely on that is taking away your right to live. Myself? THose pagan kids were the ones ruining my life, directly, ruining my school, ruining everything for me, did you ever see me come on here with that set of views, from first hand experience, not form the TV or something, from being there in front of them, did you see me come with any sort of pre-emptive bias against you?
I don't mean to toot my own horn, but by and large I am so much more nobler than you are. I am so much more forgiving, fair and just. Wouldn't you agree? It takes a special kind of someone to not allow his views of others be tainted through the actions of people unrelated?
To this day I know those pagans are a menace to society, however I will never use them as a scapegoat to close up pagan shops or anything like that. Because I know there are good people and bad people from all walks of life, unlike you, I will not judge all people from the actions of the few, as much as you'd like to believe it, your logic is flawed badly, you are wrong, you are so wrong to judge all Muslims by the actions of a few.
Now go run to your government, see how they protect you. I'm sure you'll feel safe in their cold anti-freedom, constitution ravaging legislations. The only thing thats a threat to you is your own stupidity, simple as that, only stupid people will rely on their government to save them from the big bad wolf.
You know were one step away from a holocaust? It's like no one learned anything, you know why 6 million Jews were murdered under Hitler? Because a few Jews happened to be members of communist parties who were looking to take over Europe. You think that justified what Hitler did? Because he managed to convince an entire nation that all Jews were collectively out to take over Germany. Thats what happens when you blanket judge people and take action based on those judgements. You get holocausts, you get death and suffering.
Your line of thought is the same as Hitlers, however, unlike him, you're simply misguided. So you're not nearly as bad as him, or bad thereof, you're simply misguided, even if it is delibrately done on your own behalf. I just thank god everyday you are part of a minority, not a majority, otherwise I'd probably be in a concentration camp right now.

Here’s a wake up call….everything doesn’t revolve around Islam. My outlook and thoughts on some idiotic news station and state trooper from MD has nothing to do with a Muslim. You have done some serious spinning here to be able to bring it back to Islam and my supposed hatred for all Muslims. Do you honestly think that I sit in my home every day and think about nothing but Muslims on this planet? If you do the you think very highly of yourself and your religion…because I really don’t care what a Muslim does.
I blog about Muslims and ALL other religious nuts because it is part of my “job” as a blogger on this site. I was given this webpage with this title for a reason….I wasn’t given it because I was going to blog about the neighbor’s dog taking a poo in my yard and what to do about it or Britney Spears having postpartum depression.
I take time out of my very busy week to get some personal release through this blog and do a little venting. I am not a high school student nor am I fresh out of high school. I have a family with children and I go to school full time as well as do some freelance writing on the side and maintain this blog. So until you are the head of Orble and can take my website away from me then it doesn’t really matter to me what you think about what I say. I have tons of people that come to read my blog and only a couple of you like to throw stones every chance you get.
I’m tired of being berated on my opinion and how I decide to pass along information I find in the news that has to do with ANY religion. Why don’t I see the Catholics coming here to verbally attack me about what I have said about their religion or the Pope? Oh, because they get it! They understand that a blog is really a virtual opinion of something and they actually READ the entire article instead of taking what they want from it….plus if they don’t like it, they don’t read it. And lastly none of them EVER spin what I blog about back onto their religion…thank Goddess.
I refuse to discuss anymore of this with you because you apparently have not been in the “real world” long enough. Just because you completed high school doesn’t mean that you know everything. Here’s the funny thing….I graduated from high school as well…and now I have a 3.9 GPA in college and I’m not in my 20’s anymore…..wow…I must be super smart and know EVERYTHING by now!!!! I can’t wait to see what I know when I’m 40, 50, etc….maybe I can read minds by then! I will add one comment about the “pagans” in your school…news flash….it’s not just pagan kids that torture animals, drink, smoke, do drugs, get pregnant, etc… You apparently need to get out more. Travel a little more and then we’ll talk.

I directed it towards your previous posts that had taken broken news sources and presented them as facts, as you can see, it is quite ridiculous and I was trying to (apparently in vein) get you to relate to me based on how your beliefs have been misrepresented here.
That was in effect the point of all my posts, ironic you're the one who really turned on the whole Muslim thing with your reply, my original comment was keeping clear of Muslims and was simply referring to my own experiences as an individual Muslim, like how your post is referring to you as an individual pagan.
As for your little tirade, hmm, did my story about them pagans at my high school annoy you a little bit? Because it certainly annoyed me on behalf of you way back then, and still does today. Of course I'm the open minded one here, who happens to be a uni bum.
btw, of all ironies, just because I don't have a family and am a second year uni student doesn't mean my life is empty, you know it's 3:30am right now, I've been reading on networking since this morning (and still have no idea what exactly the OSI layer model is in communication networks), seirously, since waking up, right now I just finished all my reading for the day. I work hard, very hard.
Heh, I guess you did relate:
did you read my post?

And you were the one that commented on my blog and said
And no the story of the pagan kids didn't bother me...I hear things like that a lot in the US and pay no attention. I wanted to simply point out that a lot of kids in school do those things and they are not Pagans but Christian and Jew and everything else. The aggrivation in my post was sparked by turning the discussion back to the poor little Muslims and how I am apparently intollerant of Islam but feel sorry for Pagans.
And if you have been reading about Networking all morning and still don't get the OSI model, then you may want to look into studying something else. Oh, did I forget to mention that my degree is in Network Management and security with an emphasis on computer security? Shocked? I will be finished in the fall and am getting ready to take 3 certifications by then (at least). So if you are struggling with the OSI model, then you may want to re-think things.
However, as a word of advise on the OSI model....you won't use it that much anyway. not to mention they have shortened it for ease of use to really only 3-4 layers. Good luck with that.

once again, I repeat myself, I was trying to (apparently in vein) get you to relate to me based on how your beliefs have been misrepresented here. This happens a lot with minorities and as such I thought you would have known better than to generalize and jump on the media bandwagon.

How about, Without Pagans there would be no Easter eggs or Christmas presents, they made these religious holidays the self rewarding fun they are today
We live in a Pagans world in the west...maybe they were just capitalists?
Oh and I always liked the horned head gear

Given that the cauldrons were most likely metal, they might be dealing with some arcane metallurgist ritual. The plastic skull would seem to point the finger at a stage prop manager. The handcuffs speak to the BDSM community, and the cross could indicate activity by vampire slayers.
But it's the thigh bones that are the dead giveaway. Damn you, Richard Simmons!!

Now for me, it happens all the time, I'm apparently a terrorist and I dream of bombing everyone on earth. Of course that isn't the case, so why am I judged as if it were?
What you have here is your opinion on the news, I either believe you that it is ridiculous or believe the news that there was a human sacrifice under pagan rituals that took place in the forest. I'd believe you, so why don't you believe me when I tell you how Islam is misrepresented, how (for instance) simple requests by Muslims are trumpetted as demands in the media. I try to explain to you the reality of the situation yet you turn a blind eye and prefer to believe sensationalised news reports.
So do you want me to believe you here? I want to believe you, and I do, but I won't support you and express my dissatisfaction with the ignorance of people, since you have never given me the courtesy up to this point to see things from my eyes.
btw about the whole networking thing, I have to admit it's pretty cool you're doing it, but let me elaborate further. I understand what it is but I don't fully understand how it works, I'm a perfectionist in that regard, if I don't understand exactly down to the minutest detail how everything works I won't be satisfied which is why I spend so much time on what is apparently so little.
Anyway, I'm a winner not a quitter, if it takes me fifty hours to figure out one small thing I'll sit there for the full fifty hours. If I were into the quitting side of life I wouldn't be doing engineering physics, programming, database modeling, calculus and linear algebra mathematics amongst a bunch of other things (self imposed extra curricular stuff), now would I?
I don't see why they would shorten the OSI model given TCP/IP already has fewer layers.
Comment by Miss Faith
Ahmed – I never said that all Muslims are evil people that are plotting terrorism against the rest of humanity…I’ve actually said several times how each religion has their own wackos that tend to spoil the entire religion at times. If I thought all Muslims were terrorists the family I used to live beside would have been turned into the DHS for “suspicious” activity…and the fact that I could hear Mohammed (yes, his name) praying at 5 AM every morning. But I tolerated hearing them pray and what they did and so forth because I know it is their beliefs and I really don’t care. I never once accused him of wanting to bomb the building. I think maybe you have some issues with your religious beliefs and perhaps you have been ridiculed too much for them in the past…so lighten up a little….not everyone looks at you and sees a terrorist, unless you actually are one that is. (that was a joke…laugh)
And as for OSI model and TCP/IP, it’s really one in the same. Most companies that actually still use this focus more on TCP/IP since some of the layers of the OSI were combined into one layer. Check out Cisco’s website…they have some really good info about it. My school taught through Cisco certification purposes since they are the leader in the industry and set a lot of the standards for networking.
