A Christian Blog and Acts of Plagiarism
January 2nd 2007 19:17
There is a guy named Robert Benjamin that has a blog called End Time Prophecy News. He recently wrote a blog about a survey company called the Barna Group. They did an end of year write-up on the 12 most significant religious findings of 2006. According to Mr. Benjamin, the highlight of the research stated how 3 out of 4 teenagers took part in some sort of activity that was related to psychic abilities or Witchcraft. The activities the research group was referring to was using a Ouija board, reading books on Wicca and Paganism, or having a professional do a “reading” for them. Mr. Benjamin then goes on to talk about how 3 out of 10 teenagers that attended church had been taught anything about the evils of the supernatural last year.
Well, after reading his short blog, I decided to take a look at the full article that had been put together by the Barna Group. What Mr. Benjamin blogged about was a very small part of the actual study. He failed to mention the negatives that were pointed out about Christians and their faith, or lack there of. Some of the various other topics covered were things such as only 15% of people they polled that attend church regularly feel their relationship with God is a top priority. Now that’s an interesting fact! There are several more interesting tidbits in the article, so I you would like to read it in its entirety go to: Barna Group
Mr. Benjamin also made his blog sound as if teenagers across the country were doing “evil” things with psychics and Witchcraft, when in all actuality the surveys were based on a series of national surveys over the past 14 months. They used a variety of groups and people and surveyed anywhere from 600-1000 people per topic, and it was also done randomly. So no, the nation is not running amuck with teenagers with Ouija boards. Mr. Benjamin needs to get real.
Also, I have to advise against plagiarism. Mr. Benjamin ripped at least 75% of his blog word for word from the article that the Barna Group wrote. Mr. Benjamin’s blog does not have a comment section or an email to contact him, or I would have enlightened him on how he just broke the law by plagiarizing on the internet. Hmmm….now what I got from his blog site is that he’s a good God-fearing Christian. Apparently he’s not too holier than thou if he basically stole someone else’s hard work and called it his own. Some words of advice…if he’s going to write or blog where it is to be seen by anyone besides him, then he needs to brush up on the laws against plagiarizing. Shame shame Mr. Benjamin….God is watching.

Another example of word-for-for plagiarism. Whe Christians do it, the deceit gives God a bad name..
