The Case of the Whining Christians

January 31st 2007 19:37

If you’ve read any of my recent blogs about Muslims whining about things, well apparently the Christians were beginning to feel left out. Let me paint the picture for you:

There was a Pagan Pride festival being held at Richmond Hills Park (Grand Rapids). This is something that takes place across the country in various cities and times of the year. Pagans hold a “pride” festival to show what their religious beliefs actually are and to try to promote religious tolerance in the community. Plus, Pagans can get together in the open and not feel like they have to scurry around in the darkness of night under cloaks and veils. Instead they pay for a permit and have a festival in a local park. So, now enter the holier-than-thou Christian group. They decide to attend the festival, but not to show support. Instead they wanted to spread their own word by using a wooden platform, but no microphones or amplifiers. You can only imagine what they wanted to get on their soap box and “speak” about, right?

Now enter the Grand Rapids police. A sergeant told the Christian group they could not do what they were doing without a permit….kind of like what the Pagan group had to do. So he basically told them that they were disturbing the peace and had to leave. This is when the Allied Defense Fund attorneys step into the picture. Apparently one of the Christians stated that they were forcefully pulled from the platform, handcuffed, and then placed in the back of the cop car. The remaining members of the group were then threatened with arrest if they did not leave the park.

Here is where the Christian group begins whining. The group was supposedly told that even if they tried for a permit, it would not be given because of the apparently conflict of interest between them and the festival goers. So what do they do except team up with the Allied Defense Fund and whine about it. That’s a great idea. Now a complaint has been filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Michigan. They claim “Religious speech is protected under the First Amendment and cannot be silenced because of a city-imposed permit requirement,” according to Wenger an attorney for the ADF. Do you want to hear the kicker? The name of the Christian group that was trying to enforce their freedom of speech rights is named “The Worldwide Street Preachers’ Fellowship”. That should tell you right there what they were up to by “attending” the Pagan event.

So whine away little Christians. In my personal opinion I think it’s asinine that they not only attempted it but then also got an attorney so they could complain about it. Maybe next time the Christians are having something outside in celebration of Jesus then a group of Pagans, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, and even Atheists should try to disrupt their celebration and cry freedom of speech and religion. I’m sure they would get their panties in a bunch over that, now wouldn’t they?

A Stoning that Reeks of Biblical Times

January 31st 2007 19:09

And you thought adulterers in the US could have it bad by causing things such as divorce, lawsuits, jail time, or even getting the beating of a lifetime. Well, be glad you’re not in Pakistan. Apparently 2 “lovers” in their 40’s were dragged from a house then tied by the neck with rope to a tree and then beaten about their heads with bricks and stones. Apparently the 2 were not married and were caught sleeping together. So what could the woman’s brother do but string her and the man up and kill them by stoning. That’s wonderful. He even told the police that he worked with other family members on this plan to discipline the “sinners”. He called it an “honor killing”.

So, religious beliefs or not…are we still living in Biblical times here? It’s insane to know that in the 21st century something like this still takes place. And if you notice, it wasn’t the man’s family, BUT the woman’s family. Heaven forbid a woman over there gets her “rocks off” with a man she’s not married to (no pun intended). And it’s not like they were kids…they were in their 40’s for Gods sake! Maybe they should take the men that did this and castrate them….that could calm them down a little bit, don’t you think?

Well, needless to say the supposed “police” are trying to arrest all of the people involved in this so-called “honor killing”. In 2005, the President of Pakistan actually had a law put into effect that would give those the death penalty that took part in an “honor killing”. We’ll see if it actually happens….but I won’t hold my breath since around 4000 people (mostly women) have been killed in this way over the past few years.

For those of you out there that are interested in learning more about Pagans, specifically Wiccans…or would like your children to see religious diversity, then tune into TLC (The Learning Channel) on February 19th or 20th at 10 P.M. Okay, so those with smaller children probably wouldn’t allow them to stay up to watch it, but you can record it or Tivo it for them. My hat off, so far, to TLC for their new show named “My Unique Family”. In this new series they follow “unique” families around for around 200 hours of footage and then edit it into an hour show.

On February 19th and 20th they will be showing a Pagan/Wiccan family and subtitle the show “The Witches Next Door”. They followed the Hovey’s around for about 200 hours during October and Halloween time. The family consists of a mother, father and 2 children (11 and 8). They taped them going to “church”, at home, and even going out for ice cream. Yes, even Pagans eat ice cream, not our own children. They show them celebrating Samhain with their congregation and Alana (the 8 year old) meditating. Kendra, the mother is a High Priestess of Duxbury’s First Church of Wicca and boasts a very “unique” picture for the news article that was run in the Patriot Ledger online.

I just hope this show doesn’t do the same thing the one show about switching wives or mothers did….and show Wiccans to be a little off their rocker, to say the least. I would like to see one of these TV shows actually follow a regular everyday Pagan family that you wouldn’t know they were Pagan if you were talking to them face to face. Because believe it or not, there are a lot of us out there that have children and are married, but are not a high priest or priestess or wear a pentagram around our neck that is the size of a silver dollar for shear shock value. There are many of us that live normal everyday lives and look like the person next door or the person that sits in the cubicle next to you at work. You would never know if we are Christian, Pagan, Hindu, or Jew because we don’t openly profess our beliefs to people only to see the look on their faces. Yes, there are many that do this, but it is not only Pagans…but Christians and others as well. But, I guess if they did an hour long show on a “normal” family that was Pagan, it wouldn’t be considered “good TV”.

After writing a blog about the Muslim groups in the US “turning out” against the Fox hit show 24, I decided to take a look around to see if there could possibly be any other show that may offend them but don’t seem to care about one way or another. The reason I did this was because it is clear that the Muslim community, in general, does not like Fox to begin with and after complaining about 24 yet again, I began to think it was a little odd. I started to wonder if it were only specific groups they were hammering and more or less US groups and companies only. I wondered why you don’t hear CAIR making demands at Qantas air or the CBC in Canada. Well, the following may give you some of the answer.

Who Cares About Racial Profiling?

January 18th 2007 16:08
This Picture Says it All.

Recently (this week) I have written a couple of news articles for a site that I freelance with. The reason I am blogging about it here on my Alternative Faith site is because the 2 articles have to do with religion. Earlier this week a man was awarded $400,000 by the courts in Boston. American Airlines was found guilty in an incident where the man of Portuguese decent was removed from a flight, along with the 2 Israeli men beside him. The “authorities” questioned him for 2 hours and then the airline REFUSED to put him on another flight. He sued because of supposed “racial profiling” and has been awarded a total of $400,000 in damages.

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

The Portales News Tribune in New Mexico printed a story about a woman that was jailed and charged her for killing her 6-year old son on January 4th of this year. Her name is Teresa Gillman and she is 24 –years old and supposedly told the police that “the devil was in my son”. Gillman also has an 8-year old daughter that told the police that the morning her brother was killed, her mother had encircled his body with salt. The police also stated that they found writing that would resemble something used in a “ritualistic type ceremony

Pat Robertson Strikes Again

January 12th 2007 15:16
Pat's Latest Picture

Do you consider yourself religious? Is your faith strong? If you answered no to one or both questions, then according to Pat Robertson, you shouldn’t have children. Here we go again on yet another one of crazy Pat’s rants. He apparently made comments recently about the constant decline of the population in Germany. He stated that the decline in population is because it is a supposed fact that it is “only those with strong religious faith who have children.” Here is his actual statement on the situation:

Jesus was Here, Sydney Australia.

The New Jesus Magick Eye Puzzle

Apparently all of you in Australia are very very blessed. It seems that Jesus has paid a visit to the railway station in Sydney by leaving His image on a wall. Located beneath platform 2 of Waverton station, the image of Jesus has become quite the talk at the water cooler. How was the image even found in the first place? Apparently a commuter spotted it on a city bound train

Shame Shame...God is Watching.

There is a guy named Robert Benjamin that has a blog called End Time Prophecy News. He recently wrote a blog about a survey company called the Barna Group. They did an end of year write-up on the 12 most significant religious findings of 2006. According to Mr. Benjamin, the highlight of the research stated how 3 out of 4 teenagers took part in some sort of activity that was related to psychic abilities or Witchcraft. The activities the research group was referring to was using a Ouija board, reading books on Wicca and Paganism, or having a professional do a “reading” for them. Mr. Benjamin then goes on to talk about how 3 out of 10 teenagers that attended church had been taught anything about the evils of the supernatural last year

Pope Benedict XVI Prays to Allah

January 2nd 2007 18:47
The Pope has lost his marbles.

In the world of crazies, craziness, and people that have unfortunately “hit their heads”…we can now ad Pope Benedict XVI to the list. For some reason this story didn’t get much publicity in the states, and I definitely see why. Reuters reported on December 1st that the Pope had visited a mosque in Turkey, which was at the end of November, and ended up turning toward Mecca and “praying like a Muslim”. If I were a Catholic, I would be deeply offended by this gesture. He was trying to obviously settle the waves he had caused earlier in the year over the quotations of the Byzantine emperor about Islamic violence. However, did he actually need to bow to another God just to bring peace
